Camera Work Reflection

 Learning Process:

To learn all the different camera techniques and angles I researched online, took notes, and cross referenced popular movies and shows to find real world applications of camera work in media. Additionally me and my classmates did projects to better comprehend the way camera work is used to enhance films by enabling us to find ways to use the different camera angles.

Camera Movement Project:

To learn to work with camera techniques me and my classmates were assigned projects where we were tasked with storyboarding a short film using different camera movements to convey our story. It was a very interesting experience as we had creative freedom and had to come up with our own shots.

Camera Angle Project:

Me and my classmates were tasked with storyboarding a short story about inanimate objects and taking photos from different angles to emphasize the scenes of the story. It was a good challenge as it was more difficult to showcase story elements with pictures than videos.

Challenges and Successes:

During both of my projects I had many challenges and successes for example, in the camera angle project I had a difficult time trying to show the elements of the story as we had to use photos instead of taking videos, even though it was difficult at first when I got into a flow I was able to portray my message accurately. In the camera movement project I had difficulties in shooting the angles as it was difficult to get the shots to come out like we envisioned them, me personally I kept laughing during serious shots and that forced us to get many takes of most scenes.

What I learned:

From the projects we did, I learned how to use camera angles and movements to improve a story and better show emotions, setting, and atmosphere to the audience who are consuming the media. I learned how to take shots from certain camera angles and why film directors use these angles and techniques.

Improvements For Future Projects:

In future projects I should take more time while storyboarding to fully envision a story before going and filming to reduce wasting time and not be pressured allowing for more creativity in my works, and also change settings more frequently.
